...Move over, Shiner. There's a new beer in town. Austin Business Journal: Capital Gains Independence Brewing Co. launched its suds this month, kicking off its Austin debut by hosting a grand opening party Oct. 9. Nearly 500 Central Texans showed up at the brewery, at 3913 Todd Lane in Southeast Austin, to sip some brew and check out live music. Independence Brewing was founded by Rob Cartwright, who previously brewed beer for the Copper Tank in downtown Austin. Cartwright has three creations -- Independence Pale Ale, Bootlegger Brown Ale and Freestyle Wheat Beer. If you're hankering for this new Austin brew, it's available on tap at The Dog and Duck Pub on 17th Street, Opal Divine's Freehouse on Sixth Street and Nasty's at 606 Maiden Lane. Independence Brewing kegs also can be found at the Whip In Convenience Store at 1950 S. I-35. More locations are in the negotiation stage... |
