Return of the Beer Olympics

Speed...Strength...Agility...and the ability to shoot little ping pong balls into cups of beer - Do you have what it takes to be a Beer Olympian?

From the depths of our old backyard, the Beer Olympics has re-emerged ready to test the libations skills of Austinites. The Beer Olympics is a pentathlon of beer games with teams of five competing for the ultimate beer bragging rights (and some cool prizes too!). The games are limited to the first 8 teams to register.

The Events

Blind Beer Challenge
(talk to Dipak about sponsoring the event)
A test of the team's collective beer drinking experience, teams taste five different unmarked beers (based on a sampling of what's available in most Austin stores). Points are awarded based on number of beers identified, with some mercy points awarded for getting it close.

Brewer's Challenge Keg Toss
A test of strength and knowing how to make momentum work in your favor, the keg toss is judged on the farthest distance of two throws. Teams can opt to have two different people throw, or one person throw twice. Teams who throw farther than the Brewer's Toss earn bonus points.

Beer-Handed Arm Wrestling
Regular arm wrestling is for bar room amatuers! Beer-Handed Arm Wrestling not only challenges your strength, but your ability to hold a full beer at the same time. One member of each team pairs off to arm wrestle, with the winners advancing to the next rounds until we have the Beer-Handed Amr Wrestling Champion.

Independence Shoot Out
Since Beer Pong takes way too long, we've created a condensed spin-off of the classic dorm-room drinking game. One member of each team competes to sink two ping pong balls into beer cups. Points are awarded based on the fastest times.

Freestyle Walking Competition
While you and I may see stairs, ramps, sidewalk... competitive Freestyle Walkers see an urban landscape begging for inverted ankle grabs, wannabe breakdancer moves, and all around goofy stylin. One member of each team will compete, with points awarded for the difficulty of the moves and overall style.
